The senior citizen painters and sketchers of Cape May County were equally responsive to the first art show held in their behalf IN* THOSE EARLY years, the Cape May county contest and exhibitions were held in Rio Mall. The commercial aspect of the mall was not too evident and it provided ample space for the art displays and opportunity for viewing by the public. As business enterprises Iregan to flourish, the Office on Aging considered the possibility of having the •art show in a different setting. Finally, in 1982 the County Library was selected as the new home for the contest. The County Library facilities proved to be a practical as well as an aesthetic backdrop for the work of the senior citizens. The convenient access ramp at the side of the main entrance of the building offered an easy means for the older people to move their pictures, easels and display stands to the contest area. The space on the main floor was more than adequate for the arranging and presentation of individual i'xhibits. As interest in the event continues to grow the display may bo extended to. the library's readilyadaptable and spacious conference room. Another advantage which evolved trom the relocation was the cooperation of the library's stall Ms Kathleen Duffy's assistance with arranging the exhibit area lent much success to each succeeding event. Using the county library is a setting for the contest as been termed unique. Any senior citizen artist ho wishes to enter this year's contest and exhibition may obtqjn a brochure [With the details and instructions. along with the required applications, from the Office on Aging: Nutrition Sites. Senior Centers or the County Library. Any person (M) years of older and a resident of the county is welcome to enter example of painting, sketching or graphic art. I The display will be open to (the public 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
