Board Replaces Breslin WILDWOOD - Former police chief Harry Breslin lost his 10 year presidency on the local school board to William Davenport last week in a five-two vote at the board's reorganization meeting. Breslin won reelection to his board seat by a mere four votes April 3. He. incumbents Barbara Preston and Ruth Campbell were sworn in to their latest three-year terms Wednesday night. Elizabeth Zuzulock took the oath of office for a two-year term and Robert Dietz to a one-year seat. Campbell nominated Breslin; Beverly Romeo nominated Avenporl. Now What? WILDWOOD — City Council last Friday approved a $9.3-million budget that will reduce taxes five cents per $100 of assessed valuation, to about $1.15 per hundred. But the public works director and sanitation supervisor said the budget may not allow them enough workers to resume garbage set-out : bringing it from the back yard to the curb in the morning.

Clerk Takes Blame SEAVILLE — State corrections officials said they had been informed by Upper Township Committee in an October letter that it would "help in any way" to see that a group home for 30 juvenile delinquents moved from Estell Manor to the Marine Science Consortium grounds off Route 9. In the face of local opposition, the committee voted against the move last month. Mayor Daniel Bevel. Committeemen f homas Bonner and Leonard Migliaccio said last week that the October letter, which cited "no opposition" to the home, wasn't what they had in mind. They called it a mistake and blamed it on Municipal Clerk Barbara Camp, who took responsibility for it.

Different Strokes SEA ISLE CITY - Both Ihc Cape May County Mens' Republican Club and the resort's Republican Club met Thursday but endorsed opposing candidates for county sheriff. The local club supports incumbent Beech N. Fox while the country club backs Ocean City Patrolman James Plousis in the June primary. The county club also endorsed Gerald M. Thornton and Herbert Frederick. West Wildwood mayor, for freeholder; Mary Mochary for U.S. Senate and Raymond Massey for Congress.

No Thanks VILLAS — Lower Township Committee turned down Monday night the county Municipal Utilities Authority offer to rebate $25 a ton'on recycled material if the tonwship joins the MUA's recycling program. Noting the success of municipal recycling, the MUA's April 30 deadline for replies, the need for an evaluation of the county program when compared to the township's, and the pending change in government the committee decided to inform the MUA that it isn't prepared to tackle the offer before the deadline.

Pleads Innocent SOUTH SEAVILLE - Robert B Bailey. 18, of Main Street pleaded not guilty to aggravated arson last week in connection with a Jan 13 fire at 590 Main Mreet, a two-story frame house next to Bailey s. Bailey, who fought the blaze as a new member for the Ocean View Volunteer Company, was treated for smoke inhalation afterward. He was charged with setting the fire Jan. 30 and suspended from the fire company pending the conclusion of the case against him.
