ing the week of May 6-12. Volunteer week also falls .during this period and a ' Volunteer Awards Tea is _ . scheduled for Sunday. May 6 Nurses' Day will be celebrated on Monday.
May 7. One day will be set } aside to honor the entire Hospital Health Care Teams. Programs for community t*urs and public screenings will be discussed next week as the time draws nearer. LOCAL MEETINGS coming up are: Sewerage District No. 3. Avalon Manor, at 156 Old Avalon Blvd. Avalon Manor. Middle Township Committee. Thursday. May 8 at 8 p.ir Sewerage District No. 1. Court House, today. April 25, at 4 p.m. in the township building. Students at Elementary No. 3 are learning about mosquitoes. The Mosquito Commission, in a program that started before the Easter vacation, educated the children on how to take control of mosquitoes in their own back yards. For this, the officials used slides to show the life cycle of the mosquito, so that it might become clearer how their vast numbers are aaaong us in the spring and summer months. There seems to be an expectation of unusual proliferation of These pests due to the recent heavy rains. DURING the first week of May. the 4-H Division of Cape May County's Office of Continuing "Education will sponsor a Flower Show. Local elementary students will participate in a demonstration on May 3. Different categories of foliage and plants will be judged. CLEANUP Week. May 7-12. ending with Cleanup Day. May 12. has been specified by the Middle
Township Public Works. ' Spring Cleanup Week" is time to get rid of anything that is junk and Tacking of usefulness. This includes . large appliances, old pieces of wood and pipes, and general rubbish. This program is designed to help us take pride in our public and private dwellings. Betty Jesundowski is educating local school children on how to share this pride in appearance by helping the youngsters with posters to promote the cause which will be on display and judged in 4-H poster contests. Dick Hevener and Tony De Vico are involved in community awareness and physical cjeanup. Tuesdays and Thursdays are currently pick-up days for object removal: Monday. Wednesday and Friday for commerical removal. In some cases, springs from sofa beds can be recycled and at least 30 of these were picked up in one day last week. BILL SPAULDING at Public Works says there were many more jfctholes this year due to the stormy weather .and his crew is repairing roads throughout the town as a part of spring cleanup. - He feels that .■ roads including Shellbay Avenue.
