Time Out Dining Guide IT'S MAYTIME, one of the best months of the year. May was named after Maia, a Roman goddess of Spring. The countryside is alive with new growth. The flowers are still in their early freshness. The birds have come back from their winter stay in the south, and the air is filled with songfNow, when we become boss of the world, this would be the month we'd choose to shut up school and start vacations. Alas. ♦ • * 9 "May is the prime of spring, the hevdey of the period that bridged the gap between winter and summer. There are days wjien the sun's heat. rests on the countryside, and one is sure that the Weather Man has mixed his dates. Then comes a day or two of chilly rain, and the countryman can feel in the raw air the last lingering touches of winter's cold. " — Haydn S. Pearson This week marks a great deal of activity out of doors. Fruit orchards are in full bloom and bees are very busy gathering nectar and pollen and incidentally pollenizing our cherry, peach, pluyi, pear, and apple blossoms so that the new fruit can grow Birds are busy now, too. All those that live here all year and most of the winged summ,dr residents that have already arrived from the South have started their nests. Listen for the bird songs these days of May. They'll give you a lift. % Also recommended for giving a list are these local places: IMPERIAL CHINESE RESTAURANT - plus dining. The Imperial Chinese Restaurant at 5900 Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City offers superior oriental cuisine in the setting of the former Dragon Lady Restaurant. Now under new management, the Imperial offers such delicacies as Teriyaki Beef. Paper Wrapped Chicken (fantastic), and steamed dumplings. Enjoy Chicken with Snow Peas. Diced Shrimp with Almonds, or Pepper Steak. The special combination plates include choice of entree, soup, egg roll and fried rice for a very economical price. The hospitality at the Imperial matches the impressive SCRENCI'S — Take your pleasure. Screnci's at 6208 Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City offers exceptional dining from a menu that we consider four star. Feast on Shrimp Fra Diavolo on a bed of linquini. Scallops Italienne. Veal Scallopini, Chicken Lo ' Bianco (Chicken Breast and Italian Sausage with Mushrooms. §auteed in wine), and Italian Pepper Steak. The Screnci family is celebrating the birth of | granddaughter Constance Burk Screnci the event is i cause for even more entrees added to the alreadv , super-large menu. Your own familv will find the expanded Children 's Menu worthv of a child 's special i appetite. NINO'S — sensational Nino's Restaurant and , Lucky Club, at 4712 Atlantic Ave. tat Taylor Ave. i. Wildwood has more appetizing food than practically any restaurant we can think of. in spite of this area's fine dining places. The other night we visited Nino's for an out of this world meal of Tried mushrooms and peppers. Broiled lamb chops ( the best we've ever tasted i . and expresso with Nino's home made cheese pie. This is baked at Nino's daily and is well worth the trip for this confection alone. But everything at Nino's was so delicious, we'll be back soon. You'll want to explore the menu further. Superb wine list. 1
