By DIXIE L. ANDERSON Chowders are the first thing we associate with soups of seafood, and while you're here on vacation, take advantage of the fine chefs in the region who provide restaurants with chowders that are delicious r

and different, every one of them. Preparing chowder ai home can be simple ana fun, and variations on the theme make a meal all by itself with a little bread and a salad, and a glass of wine (if company's coming). Whether cooked all day, or put together with a little 'canned" ingenuity, any soup utilizing sea staples is bound to be delicious. Here's a new and different slant on clams in chowder CREATIVE CLAM CHOWDER Use your grinder or food processor for preparation of this fihe soup. Grind together one quart clams (keep the juice) eight medium potatoes and eight medium yellow onions. Put the ground product into a heavy pot that will hold two gallons and cover with water. Cook over low heat, covered until the potatoes are soft. Dice and fry six slices of bacon and add to the clam vegetable mixture along with four tablespoons of the bacon drippings. Add two cans whole tomatoes, one-half bottle of ketchup, four tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, one tablespoon hot pepper sauce and salt and pepper to taste Add enough water to measure one gallon.
