Couple Leads Foster Parenting

OCEAN CITY - Local residents, Diane and Austin Bechtold felt that they had something special to offer children in need of temporary foster care love. It turns out that they had a great deal to offer to other foster parents, as well.

The Bechtolds have been foster parents with the State Department of Human Services' Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) since 1977 During that time they have cared for 14 emotionally disturbed children. THE COUPLE has

SHE IS ALSO a recipient I of the Grace Bosky volunteer Award, presented by the Association for Children of New Jersey for her outstanding work on behalf of children. The Bechtold home is one of 4,000 active foster homes in New Jersey which care for approximately 6,800 children in need of foster care. j * Global Shield Participant OCEAN CITY - Capt. James E. Jones, son of Dennis and Rita Jones of 138 Roosevelt Blvd., has participated in Global Shield 84, an exercise involving U.S. Air Force, Air Force Reserve. Teitelman School, has been named by the United States Achievement Academy as a 1984 United States National Award Winner in art. Tara is the daughter of Edward and Betty Ann Sherretta. She is the grandI daughter of Russell and I Evelyn Favorite of ' Sunrise, Fla., and Albert Sherretta of Cape May. Cape Airman Gets Medal OCEAN CITY — Airman 1st Class Walter J). Hughes, son of Walter V. and Donna L. Hughes of 428 Ocean Ave., has been, decorated with the Air Force Achievement Medal at Rhein-Main Air Base, West Germany. The Achievement Medal is awarded to airmen for aqcomplishment, meritorious service or acts of courage. Hughes is an electronic warfare systems specialist with the 7th Special Operations Squadron. '
