REMARKS: What do you think of the Soviet boycott of the summer Olympic Games? I know that we are supposed
to hate the Russians, but who can blame them? I don't agree with their reasons for staying home, but we showed them up in Moscow and one can only expect them to return the favor. With the Soviets and the Czechs out of the games, the U.S. should have an easy time in most events. The Philadelphia Flyers named Bobby Clarke as the new general manager and vice-president. Now I'm not sure how much knowledge Clarke acquired over the past 15 years dealing with front office matters, but how do you deal with close friends who are former teammates? Will Clarke be the one to tell Bill Barber he is through as a player? It sure was great to see the Phillies get back on track. The three-game sweep over the Dodgers in L.A. was the first such sweep at Dodgers Stadium in a long, long time. If they keep it up, they should be in first place by the all-star break.
