COURT ftOUSE - Amateur actors and actresses were guests performers at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital recently. For five years, reppesentativei of over 20 ditfereht local groups concerned with maternal a(nd child health have been tqeeting regularly once a nrerith. Together they explore ways to improve services for pregnant women and young children. Sponsored by Lh q* hospital, this Prenatal and Maternity Advisory Committee is a cooperative effort that has achieved goals ranging from improving nutrition for needy mothers and babies to providing a wider variety of birth experiences for Cape May County women.

AMONG THE shared concerns currently being addressed are teenage pregnancy and the problenr of child abuse. At the committee's may meeting, members of the Atlantic County Players demonstrated »4he effectiveness of role playidg\as an educational t oof. Members of me Cafpe May County Child Abjase and Neglec t\Tjri m presented a skit dramatizing the tragedy of child abuse. Ways of utilizing this form of teaching as a preventive will be discussed at the committee's next meeting along with other possible approaches to

minimizing child abuse and teenage pregnancy in the county. Among the groups regularly represented at these planning and problem-solving sessions are ! hospital administrations maternity, social services, dietary and clir?75' departments; Cape May County Health Department; Cape May County Schools; Childbirth and Parent Education ; Association for Retarded Citizens ; La Leche League; Cape Human Resources,. Inc. ; Rutgers Extension Service; Division of Youth and Family Services; Human Services Coalition, Renaissance; Holy Redeemer Visiting Nurse arid Home Health # Agency; Fare Free Transportation; Coalition Against Rape and Abuse. Inc. : Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative; Nutrition Education Program; Catholic Social Services; and W.I.C. (Supplemental Food Program fpr Women, Infants, and Children ) . Giving role play demonstrations at the May meeting were: Shoshanna Levin, Joel Ellinwood. esq., Petie Subin, and Doug McMahon, of Atlantic County Players, sponsored by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Hospitals. Performing in the "Kathy Skit" were Marjorie Johnson, Ernie Campell, Mary Dougherty and Jack Byrne of the Cape May County Child Abuse and Neglect Team.

MANAGER — Irene Buckley of Wildwood has been promoted to assistant cashier and branch manager of the Rio Grande branch of First National Bank of Toms River, which recently acquired four branches in Cape May County. Buckley has had over 13 years of banking experience.
