David Soens, Tiffany Tozour, David Wilson and Randy Wolford. We hate gaffes, and like most people, we find our own unforgivable. Last week we told you of an unusual Fashion Show — "Past and Present" sponsored by the Women's Civic Club June 3 at the Civic Club. We were in error, the show was sponsored by the Garden Club of Stone Harbor. We did have the time, place and hour correct but gave credit for the event to the wrong organization We hope that, like us, you made reservations through Mary Coffee, as we suggested and didn't miss this super event. If not, our sincere apologies to officers and members of the Garden Club who spend so much time, effort and enthusiasm toward beautifying the islands on 2nd Avenue for residents and visitors alike every summer. Stone Harbor s Chamber of Commerce has decided to extend its office hours this year. Under the auspices of Florence Craig and Arlene Sternbergh the office at 212 96th St. will be open 60 hours a week, seven days a week We frequently phone them for information by dialing 368-6101. Stephen C Ludham Post 331 of the American Legion is sponsoring three bus trips to see Phillies' ball games this year If you believe sportscasters this is the year to watch the winners. They'll be held in the months of June. July and August First trip will be held Thursday, June 28, when the Phils will oppose Houston A bus accommodating 45 persons will leave Legion Hall promptly at 5 p m Snacks and refreshments will be served en route For reserva tions contact Bob Michael at Polly's Place, 97th Street and 3rd Avenue or any post ' officer Proceeds will go to installation of a really super game room in post Headquarters A full-time shuffleboard table is already in place and that's only the beginning, so support a winning team, maybe talk a group into going with you to the game, and let's have a game room nobody can resist. A MEMORIAL Day par- [ ty to which we had looked forward was weathered out. First we thought we'd treat outselves to a night on the town, were too tired and then came up with the perfect solution. We decided to be among the first to try Mr. Vince's Cat's Meow. This is the gourmet take-out seafood establishment that the justlycelebrated former chef of the Golden Inn in Avalon has opened this past week at 68th and Ocean Drive. We were greeted warmly

by Mr Vince, his wife Ann and their son and daughter, Peter and Maggie. Make no mistake about it, this is a family enterprise Each one has a job to perform Mr vince Mustico is overall boss man of course. Arm takes care of orders and is power behind the throne, Maggie does the bagging and is in charge of cleanliness of the cash register counter and Peter is major domo of sweeping. It is just as we thought it would be. Immaculate with lots of gleaming sophisticated equipment in the kitchen, an extensive menu of every possible combination of mouthwatering crustaceans, bivalves, fish, chicken and veal, New England clam chowder and both hot and cold platters. There is also an a la carte menu and a deli case. We would suggest ordering ahead for anything from the deli. Phone 368-5015 rather than risk disappointment at the last minute The carriage trade has already discovered it We learned that only the day before a patron in a chauf-feur-driven car had arrived with her housekeeper to select a dinner for eight. They tried everything! At our dinner for two we were a soupcon more selective (spent less, is the best way to put it), we tried the fried flounder and scallops platter and Mr Vince's deviled crab cakes (2) platter and divided them We couldn't fault anything, it all was delectable as expected — next time we go we'll try one other platter, but always those superior crab cakes They will be closed Monday and Tuesday 'til summer season starts Now their hours are: 11 a m to 9 p.m Wednesday thru Sunday Aane Allen of Harbor Towers and Peg Grimes of 95th Street teamed up to give a surprise birthday dinner party for Marie Soence and Dotty Stump at Deg's delightfully roomy old cottage, which is
typical of Stone Harbor before real estate developers realized there was a fortune to be made in this lovely relaxed little hamlet with its one-bicycle police force. The honored guests were not the only ones surprised Most of the guests were unaware that Marie and Dotty had birthdays, two days apart A few brought • gifts but the rest of us had nothing to give but best wishes This didn't spoil it for the b-day girls, who unwrapped the ones they got so we all could enjoy them Duke and Vikl Wear have arrived from Connecticut for the summer and where Viki is one usually finds dancing as well. Peg's house also lends itself to dancing from room to room and it wound up not just being a dinner (fantabulous) but a dinnerdance too. On a rating of parties on the scale of 10 it ranked 94 because we were too dumb to bring a present but it obviously didn't dampen the evening
for anyone present. • • • GRADUATION 18 almost here for 8th-graders of the Stone Harbor School Ceremonies will be held Friday, June, 15, in the school auditorium. Competing for 1964 awards will be.
