Sr. Center Marks 6th Birthday PALERMO - The participants at the Upper Township Senior Citizens Center showed they had the key to being "young at heart" when they celebrated their sixth anniversary and open house in honor of the nationally proclaimed "Older ^ Americans Month." The festivities were on May 22, at the center on Stagecoach Road. Guests at the open house enjoyed a musical treat by the "Young at Heart" who performed a selection of show tunes and old favorites Comical skits presented by some of the center participants under the direction of local dramatist Janice Betts kept everybody laughing. Freeholder Gerald Thorton, Upper Township IMayor Daniel Beyel, and William Sheva, director of the Cape May County Office on Aging, were on hand for the festivities They listened with pleasure to the announcement that a wall hanging hand quilted by Teresa Zimmerly, depicting the township seal would be donated to the new branch of the county library in Upper Township. The wall hanging will remain on display at the Senior Center until the newlibrary is completed Regina Rider was judged to be the winner of the bicycle decorating contest with her bike decked out for the '84 summer Olympics. Those who volunteer at the Senior Center were honored for their dedication and ' ird work. They were awarded hand-made certificates of achievement and the group was presented with flowers and a banner proclaiming "Volunteer Service with a Smile."
