State Convention Of VFW June 20
WILDWOOD - Plans for the 65th state convention to be held here June 20-23 have been announced by Walter Merklin, commander of — the 72,000-member Department of New Jersey of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. ; According to George T. Van Allen, convention director, the convention will open with registration at Wildwood High School 8:30 a.m. -4 p.m. June 20. At 8 p.m. Rev. Fred Christenson, department chaplain, will conduct memorial services for departed veterans. THE CONVENTION will move to Convention Hall Thursday, June 21, to continue registration and start the business of the convention. The annual banquet will be at 7 p.m. and the beauty pageant at 8:30 p.m. in Convention Hall. The convention will begin the process of nominations for department officers Friday, June 22. Jack Doonan of Kenvil, present
senior vice commander, i will be nominated as incoming department commander. A three-act program of entertainment will be presented at Convention Hall beginning 8 p.m. Friday. ELECTION OF department officers is Saturday, June 23. The annual parade will be held 3:30 p.m., proceeding from the assembly area, 16th-24th Avenue, North Wildwood, south on Atlantic Avenue for 40 blocks. The reviewing stand will be at Memory Lane.
