Guarded Beaches Listed
AVALON - Borough Administrator Andrew Bednarek has announced the beaches that will be protected for the 1984 season from Saturday to Sept. 9. These beach locations may be changed by the Beach Patrol Captain without notification because of hazardous conditions, such as have been occuring with the beach erosion.
The protected beaches are: 30th Street for surfing: 15th Street, 18th Street, 21st Street, 22nd Street, 24th Street, 26th Street, 28th Street, 33rd Street, 35th Street, 38th Street, 43rd Street. 50th Street, 57th Street, 61st Street, 65th Street, 69th Street, 73rd Street, 76th Street, and 78th Street. Rafting beaches for use
of rafts and inflated objects will be at 18th Street, 28th Street, 50th Street and 78th Street. Thirtieth Street and 23rd Street Dock in the Bay will be protected three (3) hours before and after high tide only between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Playing of Volleyball and Frisbees is designated on the beach in the area north of the 8th Street Jetty and the area between 38th Street and 76th Street, with exact locations to be designed by and under the control of the Beach Patrol captain.
Cage Loop CAPE MAY - There will be a summer Men's Basketball League sponsored by the city for males 16 years or older. The probable starting date for the league will be the third week of June" with games being played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. Individuals interested in x participating in the league are asked to call the Department of Civic Affairs at 884-8411, ext. 20 or 27.
SCUBA Class Set June 12
CAPE MAY - A class in SCUBA is being offered by the city as part of its summer recreation schedule. The NAUI course is nationally certified and consists of 32 hours of instruction, plus two final dives. Students must be at least 12 years old. The class will give the swimmer an introduction to equipment use and the ocean environment. Upon successful
completion students will receive a certificate and a card verifying a passing effort in a nationally certified SCUBA course. The class will be conducted Tuesdays 6:30-10:30 p.m. and will begin June 12. For further information contact the Department of Civic Affairs at 884-84L\ ext. 20 or 27.
Dekelco , Law's Keep Up Pace CAPE MAY - Law's Printing continued to stay on the heels of leagueleading Burke Builders as Law's downed Captain Sig's Friday 16 to 5 in Men's National League ' softball. The win was a total team effort as eight players banged out two hits apiece. In the two other games of the rain-shortened schedule Doc's Custard downed Atlas Motor Inn 5 to 3 as Dave Glassford collected the win. The Pirate's Den lengthened its winning streak to three games as it downed Bayshore Lounge 6 to 2. Dave Stout and Paul Clark combined to go 3 for 3 as Joe LoBiondo sparkled on defense. Dekelco maintained its perfect record in the American League as it handed EECEN 1tt> first . loss, 8 to 1 Ken Laurie collected the win, aided by a stiff defense that turned three double plays. The Cape May Coasties continued to roll as they defeated the Miami Inn handily 13 to 4.
More Hours On Saturday CAPE MAY V Super Saturday, a course for children 6 to l^which includes such Activities as swimming, acrobatics, sports, games, arts and crafts, etc., will be expanded to three hours in the upcoming city summer recreation program. With the extra hour more activities such as hikes, field trips and outside activities will be introduced.
