Fishing Loan Program a Seminar Set Thursday
COURT HOUSE - A public information seminar on Cape May County's commercial fishing industry revolving loan program will be held at the Extension Service Center oft ^ Dennis ville Road at 7:30 p.m Thursday, June 7. Application forms wil| be available at the meeting. The county Economic Development Commission has a $500,060 grant from the federal Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program Interest rate on the loans will be 7 percent with the amount available per project limited to $50,000, with some exceptions The program also has a r goal of 50 cents of private investment for every dollar loaned. Object of the program is creating jobs for low- and moderate- income persons The county applied for the money last June, was notified it was successful last Nov. 3. It had hoped to be loaning money by last month, but red tape slowed the process. Final contract was signed by the Freeholders last week and is due to be signed by officials at the state Department of Community Affairs tms week Edmund Grant of the county Economic Development Commission said loans should be okayed "shortly after the June 7
meeting." The commission hasn't yet selected the^."prime bank" that .wilHiandle the • money nor named all seven
members of its loan selection committee. Freeholder Director Anthony T. Catanoso has to approve those decisions
