Regatta Slated

CAPE MAY - Hobie Fleet 416, the City of Cape May. Sailboat Headquarters, Inc Coca Cola and Schaefer Beer an-, nounce the presentation of the 1984 "Cape May Classic" Invitational The regatta, featuring Hobie Cat Sailboats, win be held at Cannone Beach and

Beach Drive June 23 and 24. Backers expect 150-200 boats from the northeastern (Virginia to Maine' part of the United States. This regatta is of special interest because the winners of the 14A, 16A and 18A fleets could earn qualification to their respective National Championship Regattas. Two separate race courses will be run in order to provide up to six races during the weekend. Hobie Cats are catamaran type sailboats (2 hulls) in 14, 16 and 18 foot lengths capable of attaining speeds of over 20 mph.

Builders Finally Lose One CAPE MAY - The upset of the week took place in National League Softball as Doc's Custard handed Burke Builders its first loss of the season 9-3. Joe Rich provided the offensive firepower as he blasted a grand slam for Doc's. John McCray backed up Rich with three hits. With the loss Burke's dropped into a first-place tie with Law's Printing. In other league action : Law's Printing kept in pace with Burke Builders as Law's went 2-0 for the week. On Monday Law's downed slumping Bayshore Lounge 11 to 3 as Bill Cook and John Vogel banged out three hits. Brendan Rosenberg collected hi£ eighth home run of the year for Law's in the contest. Law's then defeated Atlas Motor Inn on Wednesday 10 to 3 as John Fuller collected four hits and John Vogel chipped in with three. Burke Builders collected two wins before the loss to Doc's. On Friday Burke downed the Atlas Motor Inn 15 to 6 with Charlie Heeler leading the offense with four .hits, followed by Chuck Matthews with three hits. On Monday Burke nipped the Pirate's Den 12 to 9 Dave Stefankowiz led the way with four hits and Chuck Matthews collected three. VENTNOR - Cape May County surfers took five firsts and three seconds in the sixth competition of the season of the South Jersey District/Eastern Surfing Association here June 2. David Stuempfig, Ocean City, was first in 3A Boys' competition: Mitch fl Leonard, Ocean City, took firsts in 3A Juniors and Body-board: Chris Oliva.
