This is the first time that any house in Wildwoods has been a part of the Old House Tour. The Taylor-Drewes House, circa 1875. was one of the first homes built in the Anglesea area The house features all of its original woodwork, floors and some of the furniture. The first owners, the Taylors, were farmers and fishermen. The second owner. Charles Drews, used it as a summer homes Its present owners are Dr and Mrs. Lawrence Brown. THE CHRISTMAS Pre sent House is 100 years old and was originally located on Spruce Street. The house has not been changed except to lower the ceilings downstair^, remove two closets and add a handicap
ramp The original fireplaces are still in working condition The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, circa 1849. has been listed in .the National Register of Historic Places since September 20. 1977 In 1849 a Life-Saving Sta tion was started at Hereford Inlet, but the lighthouse was not erected until May 11. 1874. The lighthouse was in use until 1904, when it was boarded over. Mayor Anthony Catanoso .worked for two decades to reclaim the lighthouse from the state and on September 2. 1982 a lease was signed passing the landmark to the citizens of North Wildwood. Full restoration was done to the building and it was formally opened to the public Future plans for the lighthouse are to make it operational once again One of the features on the Old House Tour is that participants are encouraged to travel at their own pace The tour, while a study of the past for architecture and history buffs, is also a learning experience for 'anyone who is contemplating or in the pro cess of renovating an old house. The owners are available at each stop to answer questions. Art Exhibit STONE HARBOR - An exhibition of watercolors by Pearl Slobodian will be held at the William Ris Gallery. 98th and Second Avenue.
