munization and screening tests These services assist the parent and child in the Child's achievement ol his full potential for health growth in all respects — physical, mental, emotional. and social. The Child Health Conference fosters a spirit of cooperation with the parent, the child, the doc-

tor. the nurses, and the staff members. The services of the Child Health Conference are availableJo all children whether referred by private physicians, public health nurses, social and welfare agencies, hospitals or parents. Other days you j: might see a presentation jf about child car-seats and i| New Jersey law requiring children to be buckled in when traveling Your first conference I will be writh our clinicnurse. This nurse will I discuss with you. your family history, previous health history, hereditary condi t iomk. possible allergies, feeding habits, sleeping patterns, im munization schedule, your child's growth and develop ment. and any particular ] problems you might tie having with your new baby ; The nurse will encourage you to keep written records about your childs habits . and development that will help chart the child s pro : gress for future visits The nurse will also counsel you about the type of problems that can be expected Irom your baby and how to understand, modify, and cope with them. After you have had this ; opportunity to discuss your i child with the nurse, she will then explain to you the J tests and examinations j which will follow when I your baby sees the doctor AFTER VOIR con s ference with the nurse, you and your child w ill be taken into the examination room where your child will be un dressed, weighed, and measured The baby's length will be 'measured with an infant measuring board and a tape measure , will be used to measure the infant's head circumference You and your child will then meet with the doctor and you may discuss with the doctor any problems brought up during your discussion with the nurse or during the examination of your baby The doctor will then begin a careful examma lion of your child He will check the baby's heart, lungs, abdomen, eyes, ears. nose, mouth, and pharaynx The baby s rellexes. posture, extremities. head and neck will also be checked At this point, your child will also be immunized for dip *

therea. whooping cough, tetanus and will receive oral polio vaccine. BEFORE LEAVING <1 he clinic you will again see the nurse who will advise you as to any possible reactions from the immunizations. You will also receive a personal immunization record and a booklet for your written observations of your child's growth and de\elopment. Also at this time, you will have the opportunity to ask the nurse any questions you , might have about this visit ( or about your baby 's health . in general. The nurse will also arrange for your next appointment. During the first year of

your baby's life, you will most likely be scheduled for four visits — at two months, four months, six months, and eleven mon ths. At the 11th month visit, your child will be tested for T.B. and have a blood analysis for anemia The fee schedule for our Child Health Conference is $10 per child foi a year's visits and care. A sliding scale method of pay ment is provided for those who can not afford the full fee. No one is ever denied needed medical care because of in ability to pay.
