'Safari' Is Slide Show Topic

WEST CAPE MAY - The Cape May GeographicSociety's 1984 summer slide show program will begin tomorrow with the wild worlds of Kenya, entitled "Africa Safari . by Anne Galli The hour-long ' slide show to begin at 8:30 p'm will be presented a! the Municipal Building on Broadway. ' Anne Galli is know by , many as the assistant director of the Wetiand^n stitute in Stone HanWr. One place vshe always wanted to see was Africa. Last year Anne's wish came Jrue and lived up to all her expectations. With' this show" she will share her three- week expedition through the vast plains, banana farms and plantations of Kenya. Anne " was able to see and photograph many of Kenya's wild creatures in their natural habitats, such as lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, giraffes, antelopes, crocodiles, hyenas, cheetahs, and monkeys SI1E WII.I. show some ot the bird life as well, including the largest living b'ird in the world, the ostrich. Anne can hardly wait to return, next time hoping to see the coastal wildlife and the Moslem - cities there. An ornithologist by training. Anne received her |J.S. I in biology and environmen- | tal science at Elmira College in New York and her . M.S. in Ecology at Rutgers University. New Jersey. Anne came to the Wetlands Institute in 1979 after working with-4he Morris County Park Commission at Great i Swamp antf previous to that the Bergen County Park Commission as a naturalist teacher She has recently written the salt marsh chapter, in I which she chose one ol . Cape May County's own salt marshes, for the book. Habitat Guide to the Delaware Valley, to be I published by Temple I University Press , l\ I9H3 AWE organized Cape May County coverage i of an ongoing statewide census ot breeding Piping Plover. She hasffelso surveyed colonial nesting ) waterbirds ol coastal New Jersey for the past three years with results that will help decide protection J methods tor Least Tern and Black Skimmer colonies.
