■ By LIBBY DEMP FORREST I JULY IS MOVING ON, a victim of the B season's passing. What is it about sumB mer that makes it seem here one moIB ment, gone the next? One of the thing's ■ we don't like about July's deepening is ■ the decline of bird song. Dawn comes a ■ half hour later than it was at the summer |B solstice, just a few weeks ago. The points !■ of sunrise and sunset are creeping slowly ■ but surely southward each day. H ■ As July declines, the bird songs will be ■ closing down. Less than half a dozen ■ songsters' will join in the morning chorus ■ and after next week there will be no mor- ■ ning chorus. On the other hand, there will ■ be constant music in the air both day and ■ night by the late July insect chorus. We'll ■ tell you more about that next week. I^H * ♦ ■ Trivia is one of our favorite subjects. ■ We can talk about nothing for hours. We ■ also love nostalgia. We like to remember ■ crazes of the past. The best places to ■ discuss trivia is on a beach or on a porch H or at an outdoor cookout. Under these cir- ■ cumstances, people are willing to listen ■ to almost anything, no matter how ■ boring. , , , H We have an old redwood table in the ■ backyard that has seen its share of ■ cookout meals, lounging children and M leapfrog contests. When parents buy out- ■ door furniture with one purpose in mind, ■ it seemrthe youngsters often convert it to ■ something else. fl * * * ■ When it comes to Dining Out, here are U some places we'd like to share with you : ■ LAYRE'S Layre's has one of the most i'B picturesque locations in the county, at B Delaware Parkway and the Beach in the ■ villas, and it has always been a reliable. ■ family-owned and operated restaurant ■ where customers enjoy outstanding ■ specials. ■ Open daily, Monday thru Saturday ■ from 4:30 and Sunday at 1:30, the ■ welcome mat is an honest tradition at ■ Layre's. We brought the whole family ■ there last weekend (the family gets ■ sizable during the summer) and ■ everybody found something to their likIBing. We always come for the famous Soft _„]■ Shell Crabs, served Fried or sauteed. ■ Hubby likes to choose from one of the {■Pennsylvania Dutch treats (he enjoyed ■ the Dutch. Stuffed Baked Chicken Breast ■with a- big pitcher of old-fashion gravy, ■dha lot more). IBtYuIv. one of the ereats of the County.
