I Thriller Opens MidAtlantic
CAPE MAY - The | MidAtlantic Stage opened Mts 1984 Summer Repertory Season July 5 with a performance of the Mousetrap on I the grounds of the outdoor theater of the Emlen Physick Estate. A capacity crowd was on hand to figure out the f Agatha Christie "whodunit'- murder | mystery. The Mousetrap, the I longest, running play in the
history of theater, is still running in London as it has been continuously since 1952. The audience is drawn into the web of suspicion which Christie artfully creates in her inimitable style. Even the most savvy detectives are intrigued. The suspicions planted in the minds of a group of strangers stranded in a Victorian boarding house make for a constant source of tension and distrust. AN OPENING night celebration was held after the performance wo tha the crowd and community membevs cound meet with members of the cast in an informal reception which included wine and cheese. Area businessmnen and women were on hand to celebrate the opening of the second season of the MidAtlantic Stage. The aim of the stage is to provide the Cape May comm u n i t y with many memorable evenings of festive theater entertainment. according to prt>duqgr Jack Burke. The support of the MidAtlantic Center for the Arts, and the talent, en-
thusiasm. and experience supplied by the students of the Mason Gross School for the Arts at the State University at Rutgers, have provided a sound base of support, energy, and * hard work. THE MOUSETRAP will be performed July 18. 20, 27. and 31. Other performances include Aug. 3. 7. 10. 14. 17. 21. 24. 28 and will conclude on Aug. 31. The musical murder mystery What's in a Name? and a series of one acts by Thornton Wilder entitled Wilder. Wilder & Wilder are included in the repertory production of the MidAtlantic Stage. The outdoor theater, of the MidAtlantic Stage is on Washington Street. Call ( 884-ARTS for ticket ^ information.
