outdoors with Lou Rodia ^ Big Fish Time Has Arrived at Cape
It is big fish time on the Jersey Cape Anglers should be on their toes. As summer wears on. big fish , have a tendency to show up unexpectedly. Some -are just big fish which are normally around this time of year Others are "sur-_ prise" visitors who pop in unannounced In the past few days, white mariin showed up in a chum slick for one shark fisherman. Black drum have been caught in Delaware Bay — long after the big schools were supposed to have left, or at least before they were due back in August Big fluke are starting to show up in
the Cape May County Fishing Tournament entries. So are much bigger bluefish. George Mumma, of Court House, weighed in an 18-lb. bluefish he caught on a recent trip in -the Miss Chris II out of Cape May. George, who is 76. is an ardent fisherman. Big schools of big blues are setting in for the summer and they should be getting even bigger as the summer season fades into fall. Big. Fluke: Marie Morgan of Linden wold, caught a 10-lb. fluke while on a fishing trip in the Tuff L i j e with Larry McWilliams. Marie's fish
was weighed in at Frank'sBoats at Strathmere. Traditionally, August has been named as the "fluke'' month on the Jersey Cape. While lots of doormat fluke are caughr in August, anglers should be aware that good fluk4 fishing lasts well into October. Tournament Winner?
