Cage Play For Girls Tips Off

STONE HARBOR - Summer basketball got

under way in the borough t last week. Girls from 13 to 21 came out to play. The junior league began 6:00 p.m. Tuesday with the Red Bandits vs. the Purple Panthers. The Bandits won the game but not until the closing minutes, outscoring Purple 12 to 10. Carol Blum led all scorers with six points. ^ The second game was another close one with the Blue Bolts winning over the Black Barons by a score of 20-18. Stephanie Sposato lied the Bqlts with the 12 /points. THE SENIOR League began play that night also. First game was Purple vs. Red. It was another close game until the end when Purple took ovek The final score was; Ptiple 36 and Red 30. Jackie iCowen led all scorers withUl points. Thursday night play began with the Red Bandits vs. the Black Barons. The

Barons won the game 14-6. Meg Beison scored 10 points to lead the Barons to a win. Then the Blue Bolts took on the Purple Panthers. This game went down to the wire with the score tied at 6. With a minute left Norine Bastian scored from the corner to allow Purple to go on top. Purple played good defense to hold on to the lead to win. ALSO THAT night the senior girls played. First game was Red vs. Black. Red had a little trouble keeping up with the Black scoring, with the final score Black 45 and Red 24. Amy Knoll led the scoring for the Black with 14 points The second game was a more exciting game, with Purple vs Blue Purple came out on top. but Blue never gave up. The final score Purple 37 and Blue 34. Leading the scoring was Edith Dallas with 11 points

Recruited By Guard

COURT HOUSE - Sharon L. McNeal, Wildwood; Gladys P. Gandy, Delmont; and Joel J. Chard of Millville; recently joined the New Jersey Army National Guard through the office of recruiter Sgt. First Class Lew Peterson in the armory on Crest Haven Road. Guard membership requires attendance at paid training assemblies one weekend each month and 15 days each summer. STONE HARBOR - The borough soccer league continues to roll along with the Green Goblins atop the ~ standing with a 4-0 record i The Goblins are followed by the Purple Martins (3-1), the Black Ravens - (1-3), and the Blue Whales I (0-4). ' The Goblins defeated the Ravens and were ahead of the Whales 3-0 in the second half before they yielded their first two goals of the year. The other offensive stars for the Goblins have been Alex Swift with two goals and Scott Juenger adding another THE RAVENS have suffered two tough defeats to the Goblins and Martins, both by the score of 2-0.
