Transfer Station Routes Explained
SWAINTON - The best and safest traffic routes for the public to follow to the new transfer station on Shunpike Road in Middle Township have been announced by Authority officials. Ted O'Neill, County Municipal Utilities, solid waste manager, said all traffic should enter the area from Indian Trail and proceed north on Shunpike Road to the transfer station. "The exit route is the reverse," O'Neill stated, "south on Shunpike Road to Indian road to Indian Trail." He emphasized that no traffic should travel north of the transfer station on / Shunpike Road. L "TRAFFIC MUST be I controlled," O'Neill said. ''There are nine municipalities to be served at the transfer station, plus private citizens with
pickups and we must do everything we can to promote safety." The transfer station is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The township will shortly adopt an ordinance prohibiting trucks greater than four tons gross weight from using Shunpike above the transfer station. A 35 m.p.h. speed limit will also be established for Shunpike from Indian Trail north. "We support these safety measures and will expect all facility users to comply with these limitations," stated O'Neill.
