A Seven Mile Beach News Notes*
(From Page 22) and Mayor Dominic Raffa of Sea Isle City. They took their jobs seriously and conferred quietly on points all during the contest. It took them about 20 minutes, in seclusion, to
reach their verdigt, during which time, professional entertainers Judy Townsend and Don Kinnier involved the audience in their clever act. Pianist Toddy Keiton, as usual, accompanied the contestants musically on their parade for the judges. The magic moment finally arrived and Nicol Anzolone was chosen Queen of Stone Harbor for the coming year. Named as her princesses were Carla Cooper and Buffy J or don. The Little Just-Missers:, Amy Foote, Carey Galvin, Heather Hamper, Michelle Lynn Krugman, Allislop Pescatore, Sarah Puny and Maureen Reily, Were already anticipating future years of competitioru-dnd wore winning smiles too. Mayor Arden Hand came s forward to receive the crown from last year's winner and officially crown this year's queen. AS ALWAYS we were out of something — our spouse was due holne in 10 minutes frfr lunch so we ran down to Bud Zuccato's Market as usual to get whatever it was. We're so glad wehad to make that particular trip. .
5 We bumped into Becky 1 (Mrs. Russ) Bailey with her two adorable granddears; 6 - year-old r brunette Katie and 4-year-r old blond Cindy, daughters - of Betty and Bill Kli ingenberg of Sagamore > Hills, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. We asked Betty how long it took her to make the trip f and she said, "Two days' drive including a stopover at a motel in Harris burg i which was a big plus for the Spirls." : , ' ' They at least are going ta , have the girls (who adore s the ocean) for almost a r month. Katie has to be r back in school by Aug. 27 i and Becky wants her to ; have time to readjust to be1 ing home before starting school. When they're not in : the ocean Grandma Becky »' and Katie will be shopping for school clothes — we i suspect Cindy will not miss out on all the splurging. t Freeholder Ralph Evans ; and his wife Grace were ; struck amidships by a car > running a stop sign. This i happened several weeks t ago and we're happy to say I that Grace is well on the mend, but Dr. Lorraine King, a passenger in their car, is still suffering greatly and spends much of her time in traction. Just wait 'til you see the „ new conference center at the Golden Inn in Avalon! The stone used to build the new lobby comes from the same quarry from which the stone was used to con- > r struct the lobby 20 years ago Without being aware of it, it imparts a sense of continuity to the whole redecoration. Dennis Cur ley, long-time manager of the facility, took us on a guided tour of 3 the new complex and we were star-stricken. There are 24 new units, all with an ocean view, comprising a new wing. It's all going to be perfectly smashing — Richard Christian of the William Ris gallery has been commissioned to do a two-panel painting of sailing ships for the lobby area.
VFW HONOR — Bob Gunn has been named 'member of month' by FetersonLltlle Post 386, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Cape May. Gunn, a Navy veterans of World War II, lives in Goshen with his wife, Grace, who heads auxiliary.
