Wildlife Art at Wetlands
STONE HARBOR - A predominantly western Wildlife Art Exhibit of works by Michael Ruane Manning is being held at the Wetlands Institute through next Wednesday. Aug. 8th. Part of the proceeds from sale of this art will be donated to the , institute. \ Manning, a native of Philadelphia, holds gold medals in both sculpture and illustration from the Philadelphia Art Alliance. He has been working on the west coast and has recently returned to search for a new home along the east coast. "I want to chronicle the marshlands before it is too late." he said. "I am shocked at the loss of natural lands to development in the short time that I have been away." HE WORKS IN tempura. casein and oil, and has 47 originals of wildlife and landscapes which have been published and distributed in the U.S. and Europe. Manning attended the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. His love for nature and the environment are skillfully portrayed in his paintings. Connie Sands, of the Sandpiper Galerie in Stone Harbor, is displaying his large fresco on Italian plaster. "Big Red - The Perfect Thoroughbred". She is helping him locate a home in Cape County. "I like to encourage artists of this caliber to Uve in our area There are beautiful scenes here that have never been recorded." she explained. Manning's 15 paintings are on display in the Marshview Lecture Hall at the institute, one mile west of Stone Harbor It is open 10 to 4:30, Tuesdays through Saturdays, and offers an observation tower, museum, nature bookshop, salt marsh trail and various exhibits and lectures.
