Arrest Increase Reported by Boro

AVALON - Avalon police issued 57 traffic tickets in the period July 16-22, down 20 from the previous week, but made up for it with 52 criminal arrests, up from 38. The report by/ Chief Joseph E Foley also shows that 62 parking tickets were issued, one more than in the preceding period. The department towed 10 I vehicles for violations. Breakdown follows:

Traffic Tickets, 67 — speeding, 35: careless driving, 7; drunk dri%ig, 5; no driver's license or registration in possession. 4; unlicensed driver, 2; I unregistered vehicle. 2; open alcohol in vehicle, 2; no helmit, 2; no headlights, 2; refusing breath test, 1; stop sign. 1 ; other. 4. Criminal arrests, 52 — I openly displaying alcohol, I 13; noise. 12 (7 on week- I end); no teach tag, 6; I urinating in public, 5; disregard police officer, 3; m I trespassing, 3; resisting ar- I rest, 2: failure to pay toll, I 2; criminal sexual contact, I 1; lewdness. 1; littering, 1; vehicle on the beach. 1 ; no I registration (boat) 1; dog ' running at large, 1. Beach Tag Sales Zoom SEA ISLE CITY - The city went over the $200,000 mark in beach tag sales as of the end of last month, Mayor Dominic C. Raffa reported after receiving a report from the Depart ment of Revenue and Finance. This amounts to an increase of $22,455 over the same period last year, he said, representing a boost of 11 per cent in sales. Last year at the same period, the city had collected $178,349 in beach tag revenue. "We fully expect the month of July to bring in even more in tag sales as the summer flow of tourists usually increases in the middle two months 4>f the season." Raffa noted.
