1 C,cUW^ By Charles Lamey Roger Waters" first solo outing. The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking (Columbia) since the breakup of Pink Floyd will probably please hardcore Floyd fanatics. { but in all actuality the recrod isn't very good. The problem stems from Waters' trying to do too , much. He obviously wanted ( to make a record that would prove he didn't need ■ Pink Floyd but he's ended OCT with a directionless, pretentious album that isn't nearly as 'progressive'' as it was intended to be. Roger Waters has already proven to be a true talent, but The Pros and Cons Of Hitch Hiking is a sore spot of a very distinguished career. Kihntagious (Elektra) is / the latest from pop-rocker \ Greg Kihn and. as can be expected, it's a well balanced collection of tunes. Kihn's music is sin> pie, straight-forward rock and roll. He's got a friendly voice, writes infectious tunes, and has a band that gives him able support. The only drawback is a sameness in texture, but one can easily overlook that because the music is consistently fun. IT WASN'T long ago Squeeze was being touted as the new wave's answer to The Beatles and true. Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook wrote some amazing tunes '.hat indicated their string of hits would be long. But the group called it quits and now Squeeze is a pleasant memory Difford and Tilbrook have decided to continue to work together and they've iust released a wonderful record on A&M This is Drime pop music with good melodies, strong musical support, and gripping vocals. It's not premature to say the potential y of Squeeze now lives on with jithe Difford & Tilbrook « band. Enjoy. : Veteran blues/rockers '^The Nighthawks' latest Hot |Spot, ( Varrick/Ronder. | One Camp St Cambridge | | MASS. 02140) is a strong I ] collection of tunes that.
