NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN (Warner) "PG" Spy fans should be pleased with Sean Connery's return as James Bond in Never Say Never Again. Despite Roger Moore's gallant efforts, Connery will always be the actor one associates with James Bond. This is a deliberate return to tKe early style of Bond Pictures. There's humor, but it's subtle, not slapstickish the way recent (Moore) Bonds have been. Never Say Never Again's storyline is smart enough to allow Bond to have aged, without losing action, thrills, and sexuality. Watching this tape is almost like visiting an old friend. Itfs unfortunate this will probably be Connery's final time as the great spy, James Bond. Octopussy ( CBS/FOX ) "PG" Unlike a lot of people, I feel Roger Moore has given some highly credible performances as James P1""!. Tto.1 iuat isn't or if.
those times. Moore seems bored and one probably can't blame him, as Octopussy is plagued with a dull script and poor direction. Bonds enemies are played by Maud Adams and Lows Jourdan and neither one ever poses a real threat. There's no suspense here, making Octopussy a complete failure. PORKY'S II: THE NEXT DAY (CBS/FOX) "R" The first Porky's was a wild, teenage romp that had plenty of laughs, action, and actors who displayed a lot of potential. The sequel, however, is terrible. The jokes are crass and the script weak. MORTUARY (Vestron) "R" This horror film isn't very scary. It deals with evil cults, possession, and other standard plot developments, but nothing connects. SCAVENGER HUNT (CBS/FOX) "PG" Lots of stars in this, but even Richard Benjamin, James Coco, Scatman Crothers, Ruth Gordon, Roddy McDowall, Robert Morley, etc. can't make this more than mildly interesting. Basically, this comedy is about a scavenger hunt, the winner of which inherits a fortune. Some moments are funny but too often the gags fall flat. Scavenger Hunt is the type of movie you can read a book while you watch. CONTINENTAL DIVIDE (MCA) "PG" This light comedy starring Blair Brown and the late John Belushi is a complete washout. The story is too tame One doesn't want to see a Belushi film where his wild antics are kept in check Here he stumples around, looking out of place, never saving the tepid screenplay. John Belushi was a unique talent and his part in Continental Divid could've been played by anyone
