Bookstore Chain Now Rite Aids

SHIREMANSTOWN, Pa. - Rite Aid Corp. arihounced recently that it has acquired the Encore bookstore chain headquart ed in Philadelphia. Pa The purchase price was not disclosed. Alex Grass, chairman of

the board and president of Rite Aid, said that Encore now operates 18 discount bookstores in the greater Philadelphia a rea Revenues for the. fiscal year ended Jan. 31. totaled $10,150,000. This acquisi tion marks the initial entry

for Rite Aid into the retail si book industry. o Rite Aid currently v operates 1,201 drugstores in 20 states. The company's specialty retailing division includes 180 Circus World toy stores. 36 ADAP discount automotive parts

stores and Heaven, a group of nine contemporary variety stores.
