COURT HOUSE - Ruth McCormick, director of the County Chamber of Commerce and chairperson of the chamber's annual meeting and installation banquet committee has announced detailed plans for this year's annual membership meeting. The committee has selected the Mariner Inn Restaurant in Wildwood Crest as the site for the dinner meeting. Wednesday evening. Sept 26. D C based Food Marketing Institute iFMIi last.week presented Rep William J Hughes (DNJ i with a special Humanitarian Award for his dedicated work toward passage of land mark product anti tampering legislation" In making the presenta tion, FM1 President Robert () Aders said that Hughes leadership was instrumental in getting the artti tampering legislation pass ed by the House "THE AMERICAN con sumer and the super market industry are great ly appreciative of Rep Hughes work on the anti tampering legislation making it a federal felony to adulterate or tamper with foods, drugs, cosmetics and other products with the intent to cause injury, death or other harm." Aders said. The legislation as passed makes attempts to tamper with products punishable by a maximum fine of $25,000. io years in jail or both.
