■ By LIBBY DEMP FORREST ■ AUGUST IS SINKING. A lot of people ■ get sentimental about summer this time ■ of the month, wondering where summer ■ went. Our summers always pass too ■ quickly. Winter, on the other hand, seems to go on and on. ■■ * • * ■ There's always, a rush to buy school ■ clothes in late August. The kids are glad ■ for new clothes, but not about going back to school. My, haven't the kids grown ■ since the last outfitting? And moms ■ always gripe about the clothes that hard- ■ ly got worn before they became too small. ■ -Along with new clothes come school ■ supplies. Pencils and notebooks to appear ■ with on the first day of school to.make an impression on the new teachers. » ■ In spite of what the kids will tell you, ■ this time of August the youngsters are ■ growing restless. As the evening starts to ■ appear on an earlier schedule, it brings ■ thoughts of the fleeting quality of ■ playtime. The kids sense' that in just a ■ few -weeks it'll be time to put away sum- ■ mer play and get back into an organized ■ routine. Strangley, they seem to want and ■ need this routine. —J ■ V * * * ■ The insect chorus is still at its height, ■ day and night this week, although night temperatures are getting lower, and the ■ tempo of the katydid and tree cricket ■ songs is slowing somewhat- * * ■ While August culiminates, how about ■ enjoying every fleeting summer mo- ■ ment? No better way than going out to eat with friends and family. Some recom- ■ mended spots are: TOP OF THE MARQ. Treat yourself to ■ a fabulous evening out at the Top of the ■ Marq for an enchanting view of Victorian ■ Cape May and a fabulous dinner at one of ■ the town's most famous restaurants ■ The rooftop setting offers the finest ser- ■ vice where your every request is carried ■ out to perfection.
