Festive Events Set In Victorian Week
CAPE MAY - The city will welcome visitors for the festive fall celebration called Victorian Week Oct. 5 through 14 with trolley and walking tours, fashion shows, lectures, parties, house tours, an antique show, and an in-depth workshop un Victorian house restoration using the homes of the National Landmark City as examples. Victorian Week, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC), is an expanded program based on the popular "Victorian Weekend" which has been held the past 10 years over Columbus Day Weekend in Cape May. In order to accommodate the increasingly large numbers of visitors at the time, the festivities have been increased and spread over two weekends and the intervening week from Columbus Day, Weekend, Oct. 5, through Oct. 14. SPECIAL EVENTS scheduled for Victorian Week include an antiques show featuring over 50 quality dealers of Victorian antique furniture and decorative arts Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5 and 6; a special crafts show, "Master Craftsmen in Crafts at Congress Hall", Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13; tours of Cape May's renowned Victorian homes' interiors Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7, • and the following Saturday, Oct. 13; fashion shows of Victorian costume with cocktail parties Saturday. Oct. 6, and again Saturday, Oct 11. Also the Bayshore Square dance Festival Sunday. Oct. 7, the annual jj " Glorious Victorian Din- 5 ner" featuring the music of the H B Smith Coronet Band Saturday, Oct 6; the tours of Cape May's stained glass Sunday, Oct. 7 and Saturday Oct. 13; an Open House at the Cape, May Coast Guard Base Monday, Oct. 8; "Song. To Feature ; Hoffnagles I : ' WILDWOOD CREST - The entertainment schedule at Gazebo park for the coming week I features the Hoffnagle i Family Fun Band every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m I The group consists of a father and three soijs who feature a variety of novelty tunes, Glenn Miller sounds, the Chicken, the Hokie Pokie, String Band tunes, and just plain enjoyable music. Saturday evening, Aug 25, the American Legion Band of Millville will present an all volunteer musical group complete with a color guard that will open the evening ; festivities. The Millville Legion band is the oldest in the state and currently the American Legion Senior Band State Champion.
