Assets Over $100 Million
STONE HARBOR - » Sturdy Savings and Loan Association has reached
' $100 million in assets, according to John L. Armour, its president.
Armour attributed Sturdy's steady growth to continued customer satisfaction and confidence. "It is a strong sign that people like the way we are operating and the fact that we are an independent financial institution, operating only in £ape May County. "Our growth is a result of customer ^confidence in the service^e have provided since 1922," Armour said. "Our Association is one of the strongest and sturdiest in New Jersey and one of the few which hasn't merged or changed its name in 62 years. We believe Sturdy is $100 million small. Even though our assets have grown substantially, the most important thing we provide our customers is service." THE ASSOCIATION was chartered in June, 1922. In September, 1950, Sturdy received FSLIC insurance coverage. In 1970, the institution had one office and 19 employees. By 1062, Sturdy had five offices and 40 employees Assets were $25 million in 1972, doubled by 1978 to $50 million, hit $75 million in 1982 and now have passed the $100 million mark. In 1922, our services were limited to passbook savings and mortgage lending. Now, Sturdy Savings and Loan has all the services a family likes to have at a savings institution," Armour said. "Services which appeal to Sturdy's customers include checking with interest, money market accounts, a wide range of high interest certificates, home improvel ment loans, student loans, and much more." Sturdy Savings and Loan has five offices in Cape May County, including the main office in Stone Harbor and branches in Dennisville, Avalon, North Cape May and Cape May Court House Exposition On Heating \ FOLSOM — Area ; plumbers, builders and heating contractors will : receive a firsthand oppor i Lunity to learn of innovations in the design and operation of natural gas heating equipment and appliances at South Jersey Gas Co s second annual high efficiency appliance exposition Aug. 20, 21 at Harrah's Marina Hotel Casino, Atlantic City.
