Ocean City Slates Events
. OCEAN CITY - A busy schedule of fall events will be highlighted by the city's second annual Indian Summer Weekend, Oct. 13-14. The weekend will feature a block party and crafts show in the downtown section and a seafood festival, seniors' run, sand sculpting contest and sale in the Baordwalk area, j Block parties have been popular in Ocean City's Asbury Avenue shopping district for the past four years with events held in the spring and fall. This year a new car show, pet fair, art show , antique auto Show and sidewalk sale are scheduled along with a major crafts show. The celebration will be extended two blocks and will stretch between 11th Street and 6th Street on Asbury Avenue. THE BLOCK party will begin 10 a m and be held i for one day, Oct. 13. Ethnic foods will be featured with a Greek Festival scheduled for 9th and Asbury Avenue. There will be free ponyrides for children, fortune
tellers, jugglers and many other special events. A trolley-bus will transport visitors from the. block party to the Baordwalk where a Saturdaytable sale and seafood festival will be underway The seafood festival starts 10 a.m., at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, and will be held Saturday and Sunday The Boardwalk mer chandise sale is set for Saturday only ON SUNDAY. 10 a.m., a three-mile seniors run for men and women over 40 is set starting at the Music . Pier There is a $3 registration fee with all entrants receiving "T" shirts. A sand sculpting contest will be held 1 p.m. on the 10th Street Beach with prizes awarded to winners in various age categories There is no entry' lee Runners may register for the event by contacting the Public Relations Office, City Hall. jo Band" performs at the Pier, 8 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 6, admission $1. Friday, Sept. 7, the Women's Bi-Centennial Barbershop Chorus will sing at the Pier, 8 p.m., admission $3. There will be an Antique Quilt Show at the City's Civic and Sport's Center the same day from 10a.m. to 6 p.m., admission 82. ON SEPT. 8. the HappyHoofers Ballroom Dancers hold a fall frolic at the Music Pier, admission $3.50. On Sunday, the 10th, the "Pops" Orchestra will be back for a special free concert compliments of the City and Atlantic City Musicians Union. On the 10th, a free big band concert in memory of John Warrington, nationally known arranger and former "Pops" conductor, is set for 8 p.m. at the Music Pier under the direction of Carl Waxman. On the Ilth and 12th. the Pier hosts the annual Senior Citizens Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., admission free.
The "Sunshine Boys" Banjo Band returns to the Music Pier Sept. 13 to be followed by the "Young at Heart Singers" on the 14th Both events start 8 p.m. with $1 admission. THE MULTIPLE Sclerosis Bike-a-thon will be highlighted here on the 15th with" hundreds of Delaware Valley bikers converging oo the city They will hold a dinner and awards ceremony at the Pier starting 6 p.m The South Jersey Street Rod Association will bring hundreds of special cars to the city on the same day with 'a Boardwalk parade set for
approximately 5:30 p.m. On Sept. 17, the city will present Doris Bellen, organist, in a free concert at the Pier, 8 p.m. She will be followed on the 18th, 8 p.m. by gospel singer, Steve Bernick, admission by donation. Amateur boxing will be ^ featured at the Pier Sept. 19 with the Jubilaire Singers set for the 20th, 8 p.m., admission $1. Miss Georgeann will stage a fashion show at the Pier, 8 p.m. Sept. .21. A Decoy Show featuring ours landing carvers from throughout the East is set from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the 22nd. The '^Singing Ambassadors" of Vineland under the direction of Henry Ricci will perform at the Music Pier Sept. 28, 8 p.m., admission $1. The month will be concluded with a gala performance by the New- Jersey Ballet Company, 8 p.m. Sept. 29 at t£e Pier with tickets at $5 and 87 ]

O.C. Shotc Features Old Quilts i OCEAN CITY — The Third Hopefully Annual Quilt Show and Sale here is just a few weeks away. This year's show is more extensive than the previous shows, with new added features Among this year's entries are embroidered quilts from the late 19th Century, sampler quilts, baby quilts, and a,speciai section of log cabin quilts All these quilts are of the ' finest quality and are hand quilted. Participating in the mini merchant mall are quilt shops quilt dealers, and teachers as well as a table of books and patterns THE SHOW takes place on Friday and Saturday. 10 a.m. -6 p.m. This year the exhibit is in a new and largo- facility, the Sport and Civic Cento, 6th Street and the boardwalk. Tickets are available at the door Proceeds from this year's show will be used to purchase and donate new play groUhd equipment to the Ocean City Recreation Department.
