Less Noise, But Plenty Of Arrests

AVALON - The borough was comparatively quiet, with eight arrests for noise, but there was an increase in more serious crimes, with five drunk driving arrests, a dozen drug-related arrests, and two weapons arrests Those facts were revealed in the report of Chief Joseph E. Foley for the period Aug. 20-26. Breakdown follows : TRAFFIC TICKETS. 72 - speeding. 40; drunk driving. 5; careless driving, 4; stop sign, 2; red light, 2; open alcohol in motor vehicle, 2; driving while revoked, 1 ; leaving scene of accident, 1 ; other. 15. Criminal arrests. 44 — noise, 8 (5 on week-end); j openly displaying alcohol. ; 6; possession of drugs. 9; possession of marijuana. 2". possession of a weapon (rifle). 1; possession of a weapon (knife ) , 1 ; resisting arrest. 1 . possession of hypd38rinic needle. 1. obstructing justice, 1;

theft of a motor vehicle, 1 L disregard of police officer, 1 ; disregard of a life guard.

Hunters' i Deadline TRENTON - Hunters have little time to apply for licenses for the shotgun and muzzleloader deer seasons, wars the NewJersey Division of Fish. Game and Wildlife Applications for the regular shotgun and special muzzleloader seasons must be completed and returned to the division by Monday, Sept. 10, to be eligible for the random drawings. The applications are available from license agents and offices of the division. Also available, from county agricultural agents, is the 1984-85 New Jersey Deer Guide Farmer permits, either shotgun or muzzleloader, must be filled out and returned to the division by Sept. 17. Only holders of valid 1984 firearm hunting licenses are eligible to apply for a special permits
