Mre. Kahn emigrated from Dneptrovsk. Russia. • to Cape May. in 1921. via EMfs Island with her children. Minnie. 10 and Samuel. 8. Her husband. Naum Kahn. came to the U.S. in 1914 * At the outbreak of the Russian Revolution. Mrs. Kahn owned a millinery factory in her native land and her husband was in -dUiian purchasing furs for he\ Ife left Japan, thinking the J Revolution was only temporary, and traveled to Seattle. opened a boutique and men's furnishings' shop where Delias store is now located on the Washington Street Mall. They operated the shop until 1926 when the couple opened Kahn's Seafood Restaurant on the corner of Washington and Decatur streets which they' later named The Ugly Mug. Mrs Kahn was business president. In the early years of Kahn's Ugly Mug, its menu . listed such bargains as lobster dinner for SI .50, alamb chop platter for 75' cents and a full-course businessman's lunch for 35 cents. Those popular menus included everything from soups to desserts. Mrs Kahn was in business 54 years when she retired and sold The Ugly Mug in 1979. A widow since 1950. she is a member of the Beth Judah Temple Sisterhood, the Wildwood Chapter of Hadassah and community - organizations Besides her son, Samuel, her family includes grandchildren Bernard Hoffman of Margate.
