^ews Notes from — v- . ^ The Cape Mays Dolly Stango
And the winners are: Dawn Bishop (works at the English Shoppe in Cape May), first prize Raffle Benefit Drawing of Cape May Rescue'Squad, a handsome Handmade quilt, two pillows and quilt rack, valued at $500; second prize, Jean Mc Andrews q£ the Sugar Cone (on the Cape May promenade) , the beautiful 25-inch antique doll valued at $400. Drawing took place Sunday evening, Sept. 2, at Convention Hall. So many enjoyed the Harrowgate String Band, but needless to say, only two could be winners ! The Cape May Rescue Squad Auxiliary, a bevy of diligent women, worked many hours to make this the successful event it was, and they wish to extend their heartfelt thanks for all those who helped make it so. All proceeds go toward newer and better equipment for our very own Cape May Rescue Squad. Special thanks go to Ella Mae Miller, hard-working treasurer, whose job it was to keep all the raffle books and monies in order, requiring many hours of work. Also thanks to the many women of the Auxiliary for getting this project off the ground and making it come out right. HOW ABOUT it? Coming out to support Father Robert Pasley's (he'6 associate pastor at our Lady Star of the Sea on the Washington Mall) choir organization 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the main church. Remember, you don't have to be a professional singer or have a trained voice, just the desire to sing and a strong willingness to help Father Pasley get a choir together for the church. You'll like working with Father Pasley. He welcomes suggestions, smiles a lot, and most of all, because he's new in the area, let's all help him feel doubly inspired by turning out for the choir. I'm going. How about you? Men and women both! • • • V The West Cape May Christmas Parade is Saturday, Dec. 1, and Mari Arscott, one of the dedicated workers, called to say they'll be selling delicious home-made hoagtes all day long in front of the Acme as well as in the Borough Hall in West Cape May, and even in the evening while the parade is on. They are appealing to the businesses, motels, etc. which would ordinarily be closed by that time but perhaps would have some items they would care to donate. They'll accept anything at all. They have ample place to store, items but need help in getting articles they can bold for their rummage sale. The date is not definite, but it'll be the first part of November. Numbers to call are the Borough Hall at 884-2727 or Charlotte Daly at 884-4748 TO MAKE IT even more exciting, Mari Arscott and hubby, George, have just had another addition to their family, Patrkk^aacis, born Aug. 23.
