(From Page 14) balloons! The party was sensational, merely sensational that's all. Alexandra and John K ok on os entertained a very large group of friends for dinner on Aug. 26 in the new complex added to the Golden Inn, Avalon. It is decorated in what we would tom "Early luxurious". We would also say that almost every guest was a contributor to this community in one capacity or another. , As Mayor Arden Hand said, "When John gives a party he really goes all out." We couldn't agree more, but we also know Alexandra's infinite attention to detail and eyed with envy the graceful flower arrangements surrounding a lighted candle as the centerpiece for each table. We were told to sit wherever we pleased at tables for eight. Both John and Alex are such competent hosts we wonder if they find time to dine themselves. They circumnavigate the room constantly in opposite directions to see that each guest has what be or she wants and is having a good time. ALEXANDRA'S beauty doesn't detract from the scare either. She was wearing the chic black and white silk print she modeled at the Civic Club Fashion Club. The food was what we've come to expect at the Golden Inn — superlative, including something we've never tried before, chicken breasts stuffed with oyster filling. The guest at each table whose birthday was closest to the date of the party was asked to'take home the arrangement adorning the table. The person who won at our table gallantly gave -it to me. If there were a party Olympics this one would have gotten the Gold for sure! WE TALKED With the new president of the Avalon Seniors, John Walter of 15 Meadowview Lane and he is full of ideas for the coming year. He told us that while the Seniors usually take the summer off socially, this year they did volunteer to take a traffic survey for the state. / j Twenty-eight Seniors stationed themselves at various intersections on a hot, hot day (to countpass ing care. Perhaps tofi«l ouHw&tfe^* there. It nray he this enthusiastic response to a call from the state that prompted Sea. James Hurley to write John and offer to speak at one of the meetings held the fourth Tuesday- of each month at Deauville Inn, overlooking the bay in Strathmore They are held at noon beginning Sept. 11. There will be a theme for each meeting and this month the theme is appropriately called "School Days". • • • See Coupon For 50$ OFF On CiaMffiHi Pipe
Larry Feise of Avalon recently gave a surprise party for the parents and grandparents of Scott Feise and Stack Haberman. We got the report from Mrs. George W. Feise Jr. of 54th Street, who said
it was the most exciting and sentimental evening possible. ' Scott asked for Stacie's hand in marriage at the party, then produced an engagement ring for (jer. According to Mrs. Feise
