DEL HAVEN -Over the weekend of Aug. 25-26, the TBAA Pre-Season Soccer Tournament was held in Turnersville. Among the many teams entered in this series, set up to provide coaches with a preview of the players abilities, were the four Cape Express Soccer Teams. Game records were:
Rovers (under 14) with three wins and ooe loss, taking them into the playoffs and a 2-0 loss against Cinnaminson. The Rovers returned home with the second-place plaques. The Midnight Special (under 14) in the first games as a Cape Express Team had a 2 win-1 loss record. The Silver Streak (under 12) came away with one win, one loss, one tie. But the "Gold" came home with the under 10, Golden Flyer, whose two win, one loss record took them into the play-offs also against a team from Cinnaminson. This game ended play time with a 2-2 tie and following two fiveminute overtime periods the tie continued. Tournament rules called for a one-on-one shoot-out which finally broke the tie after plays by five members of each team. The Express captured the Division five TBAA Pro-Season Tournament Title, with a 3-2 victory.
