Center's Employee Of Year
CAPE MAY - Each year, the Federal Executive Association of Central and Southern New Jersey recognizes federal employees who have made constructive contributions to the federal service and to the community. At a recent awards luncheon at the Coast Guard Training Center here. Mr. Margaret J. Castellucci of Cape May, was honored as the Administrative Employee of the Year. CURRENTLY employed at the Training Center, where she has worked for ftie past seven and one half years, She was attached to the contractor's office " before transferring to hepresent position as secretary in the Facilities Engineering Division. Mrs. Castellucci provides all typing, filing, and stenographic services for five Coast Guard offices and seven civilian * engineers in that division. In addition to her duties in the Engineering Division, Mrs. Castellucci is also the civilian personnel liaison clerk for the entire training center. In that capacity, she is responsible • for all time and attendance submissions, investigating pay and leave discrepancies and matters dealing with personnel hiring and records maintenance for the over 40 civilian employees.

On Getting* Blood from Horseshoes BURLEIGH - Robert Mullins of Marine Biologicals Incorporated spoke to the Mid-Jersey Cape Rotary Club recently regarding the commercial use of horseshoe crabs for a very vital medical need. The company obtains blood from the horseshoe crab, . which is then processed to obtain the white blood cells. The white blood cells are then further processed to produce LAL, which is used by the medical industry to . test for low level -contamination in human and animal drugs. This test is a substitute for the use of live rabbits and the total processing time is much less. Marine Biologicals Incorporated is located on South Shore Road in Marmora. Electric Co. Crews Aid Authorities
PLEASANTVILLE - Atlantic Electric has announced plans to use its radio-equipped vehicles and existing employes to help report emergencies and hazardous situations. Through a new program known as Radio Watch, all;' of Atlantic Electric's 350 radio-equipped vehicles have bcome mobile communication links with local police, fire and rescue squads in Southern NewJersey. Company employees radio reports of any suspicious activity or hazardous situation to company dispatchers, who then notify local authorities. This adds hundreds of eyes and ears to other crime prevention programs already established throughout Atlantic Electric's service territory. "Many of our employees have already been reporting emergencies such as accidents and fires," noted Ray Gage, manager of consumer affairs. "Radio Watch will recognize them for their contributions, and establish guidelines and
uniform procedures for - reporting emergenices while they're on the job." The New Jersey State Police held special training sessions for the field personnel to teach volunteers how to report emergency situations.
Midlantic Increases Dividend EDISON — The board of directors of Midlantic Banks Inc., on Sept. 14, declared for the seventh consecutive year, an increase in the dividend on Midlantic 's common stock. According to Robert Van Buren, chairman of the board, the quarterly dividend will be raised from $.25 per share to $.28 per share, or $1.12 per share on an annualized basis. This represents a 12 parent increase. The dividend on the common stock will be payable on October 15, 1964 to shareholders of record at the close of business Oct. 1. Earlier this year, shareholders approved a two-for-ooe split of Midlantic'* common stock, effective May l. This is reflected in the current dividend level.
