Our Readers Write Fritz , Peggie , Bad for County To The Editor: On Nov. 8, 1983. when the voters of Lower Township cast 2,536 votes against incumbent Mayor Peggie Bieberbach, there was a sense of political sanity in the air of that community. Winning by a margin of just .2 of one percent, for a seat on the Township Committee, the voters realized the mayor, representing higher taxation, was in all actuality, bad for the Township of Lower. The popularity of this politician has declined sharply over the years. Her bitter opposition to the council/manager form of government which was overwhelmingly approved by the conscientious voters by a 2-1 margin, was typical of her backward approach to local government. Under this Committeewoman, Lower realized an increase of 112 percent in our local tax structure from 1980-83. In 1981. she cast a "yes" vote for an 30 percent increase. In 1982, yet another "yes" vote for a 50 percent tax hike, the largest in the township's 75-year history. YES. BIEBERBACH was rightfully crowned "The Tax Mayor." I would add. she is typical of the state of confusion the Democratic Party nationally finds itself in. The splintered group of socialistic do-gooders do very little good in effect. The philosophy of raising taxes to pay for socially unsound and historically unproven programs, the Robin Hood mentality of taking from the "haves" only to give it to the politically hand-picked elements of society called the "have nots" is contrary to the very foundation of this government. The successful should not be penalized for being successful. THERE IS A TREND in North America, as proven by the recent election in Canada, towards conservatism, strong defense, less experimenting in social programs and a pride in the individual, born and yet born. Mr Mulroney's Progressive Conservative party swept 211 of 282 seats in Parliament — an historical first. Democrats both nationally and locally had better regroup. Their state of confusion is leading to political delirium. The outmoded philosophies of candidates Mondale all the way down to Ms. Bieberbach are bad for America, bad for Cape May County. Just review the atrocious records of these two people. Statistics don't lie. MICHAEL STU BBS North Cape May (ED. NOTE : Stubbs is the son of Samuel M. Stubbs who was defeated by Bieberbach last November and was the unsuccessful regular Republican candidate for Lower mayor in May. Bieberbach is the Democratic candidate for county freeholder.) Still Wailing? To The Editor: In rebuttal to a gentleman from Strathmere whose letter. although somewhat amusing, was in fact incorrect as to his claim of Sea Isle City not being on the same island as Avalon and Stone Harbor! Data such as artifacts found in the Bidwell Ditch area, geological surveys and many other documented findings all denote that it is an "island chain" and a positive peninsula. Charts back as far as those used by Vasco De Fayo also determine this to be^rue. I note where Dick Alliger spells the south Strathmere sector as "Whale Beach." I note where Dick Alliger spells that south Strathmere sector as "Whale Beach." another misnomer. The original name was "Wail Beach." attributed to the prolonged inarticulate mournful cries of the first settlers (and perhaps following through to this day). T. W. CHATFIELD St. Augustine. Fla.

To Observe the Creation ...
To The Editor: w Why would anyone offer $1,000 for "proof" of a Supreme Being? The Bible says in Romans, chapter 1, verses 20 and 21: "For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly see% being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead: so that they are without excuse. Just a look in his jnirror would cause him to wonder at his own being, or a walk along the shore to observe the creation. Obviously, neither he nor it could have just "happened." YEARS AGO a man named Robert Ingersoll would take out his pocket watch and dare God to strike him dead in five minutes. Women fainted as he counted down the minutes. He would close his watch and say. "See I've proved there is no God." Proved what? That God does not react to a "dare" by a finite creature! Ted Lederach should read Psalm 14, verses 1-3: "The fool hath said in his heart. There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from J$eaven upon the children of men. to see if there were any mat did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they. are all together become filthy : there is none that doeth good, no not one." THE REASON a person does not believe in God is found in 1 Corinthians 2:14: "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually understood." Such a person does not have the ability to understand "proof" if it was offered. I don't want Lederach's money, but I would like to introduce him to my Savior, Jesus Christ, who will save you from your sins and give you an understanding of Himself in the Bible. WHAT YOL NEED to do is to acknowledge that you are a sinner (all have sinned and come short of the glory of God), repent of those rins and ask God to forgive you. You must believe that Jesus Christ is truly man and truly God who died on the cross in YOUR place, to pay for YOUR sins. Believing that, you must ask Him to save you. Without salvation, and without the Holy Spirit, you will never know the God of creation and redemption. What a pity.
So, keep your money, and ask God to open your eyes to the truth already revealed in the Bible. The good news is, the Gospel is FREE. DR. GEORGE FINCKE Senior Pastor Covenant Bible Church North Cape May A Gob of Goop To The Editor: The Bible from internal proof reveals itself to be the perfect inspired word of God. the only infalhble rule of faith and practice. It states quite dearly that there are only two kinds of people who inhabit the earth ; those who are going to spend an eternity of torment in Hell, and those who are going to spend an eternity of bliss in the presence of Jesus Christ. The key that opens the gates to the glories of Heaven is the simple prayer of humility: God save me a helpless sinner. God's word says "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 and 9. "HE THAT BELIEVETH on the Son hath everlasting life : and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life ; but the wrath of Gpd abideth on him." John chapter 3 verse 36. Reduced to its lowest common denominator, the unproven and unprovable theory of evolution demands a fantastic demonstration of faith: Believe that some undescribed gob of goop decided upon its own volition and authority to become life. I find it easier to believe "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." The word "created" in the original language bears the connotation, "to make something out of nothing." KARL W. By JOE ZELNIK Reader queries based on respect for our keen knowledge and superior sensitivity keep coming in. Answers to some of the more significant questions follow : A. H. of Sewell Point : If, as you reported last week. King Neptune doesn't live in Stone Harbor anymore, what about the ancestors of King Nummy? Are they still on Nummy Island? Answer: No, they were driven away by insects and now live in the rear of the Mosquito Control Commission's helicopter hangar in Dias Crtek. The county charges a nominal rent. ' \ C. L: of Punyard Point: I heard that the managing editor of the Atlantic City newspaper told the county Chamber of Commerce that an article disparaging tourism was published because it "slipped through the cracks. "Do Herald-Lantern stories ever slip through the cracks? ' Answer: Not since we got .wall-to-wall carpeting. Now if we say anything wrong, it's pure incompetence. J. R. OF BALSON POINT: I thought the Wings 'N Water Festival was great, but you're always complaining, so I suppose you have some criticism? Answer: Not really, although I think it would be nicer for year-round residents if it were held later in the fall or early winter when it really gets boring here. As it is, all we've got is the bourbon 'n water in November, the Scotch 'n water in December, the gin 'n water in January, and in February, the cruelest month when some unemployment starts to run out, vodka on the rocks. C. C. of Gunners Point: Why don't we hear more about Middle Township? Answer: You hear a lot about Middle Township; you just don't know it. For example, the Wetlands Institute is in Middle Township, as are the Wildwood Golf Club, the Stone Harbor Golf Club, the Avalon Golf Club, the Avalon Campground, the Stone Harbor Marina and the North Wildwood Campground.
1 1 am indebted to the person who pointed all this >ut in an unsigned letter to the editor. Since we don't publish unsigned letters, I claim the information for myself. ) B. R. OF SEWELL POINT: Have you solved your tee shirt addiction? \ Answer: No, and I don't feel guilty about it either Down here, anything goes. The other day one man'stopped in our office wearing a shirt, tie, wool sweater and wool sportcoat. Seconds after he left he was followed by a man wearing shorts and a tee shirt. Of course, this is an unfair comparison because the first fellow worked on the second floor of the county Health Building where it is 45 degrees all summer. T. F. of Golden; Point: 1 found last week's Pole results fascinating. Any others? Answer: 1 have always had good results with piles but I assume you meant polls. The last one I took revealed that 86 percent of the tourists who go to Cape May do it on rainy days. They're paying $100 a day to get a tan and can't bear to leave the beach when the sun is shining LOGICAL CONCLUSION : If there were no rainy days there would be no Cape May. ' I then pasted together remnants from the city's shredding m chine and found that the city annually spends p5,000 to seed the clouds over the Wildwoods. Stone Harbor, Avalon and Sea Isle City. It hides the expenditure in the K-9 Corps allocation under, appropriations for dog food and vacuuming dog hairs from police cars. Cape May worked out a share-the-fare deal with the Winchester. Every time a banner plane flies over advertising the Winchester, it also is seeding the clouds Incidentally, my poll results are sometimes totally inconsistent with outfits like Gallup. It recently reported for example, that only 11 percent of humans said they w-ouM like to eat shark. My own poll found 95 percent <rf sharks willing to eata human. 6
