53 Years ' Service By Five Point Club

AVALON - The Five Point Club of Avalon was organized over 50 years ago by a group of woman whose husbands, fathers, or brothers were members of a Masonic Lodge. Regular meetings and social activities have continued for the past fifty- • three years; at first in* homes of members and later in the Borough Hall. Hundreds of dollars have been given to charitable organizations over these years. Vivian Hinkle, of Avalon, and Sally Rice Smith, of Court House, were two of the very earliest members. secretary; Ebna Schaffer. recording secretary; Irene Gossfer, treasurer. The ways and means committee headed by Florence Unruh, Reba Raeburn, and Eleanor Eigleson, sponsored a covered dish luncheon and white elephant sale it July. Early in August a bus full of members and friends traveled to the Hunterdon Dinner Theater for dinner and a musical show, "Kick Up Your Heels." A similar trip is planned for next year. CONTRIBUTIONS for the year amounted to over $700. Included were the Avalon Rescue Squad. Stone Harbor Rescue Squad, Burdette Tomlin Hospital, Helen Diller Home. Methodist Church of Avalon, Avalon Fire Department and several

other local churches. Memorials were sent to charities for members who passed away during the year. Remembered thus were Francis Link, Ella Kneedler, Josephine Daix, Dorothy Kirchoff, Freda Neithammer, and Isabella Himmelman. Monthly luncheon meetings are held the third Thursday of the month. Mulfard's, in Corbin City, will be the place of meeting at noon Oct. 18. President for the coming season is Pauline Sprowles, and vice president is Mae Megonical.
