Halloween Dance, Party
CAPE MAY - The city will sponsor a parade, party and dance in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May and the Mid-Atlantic Arts Center to celebrate the 1964 Halloween season Saturday, Get. 27, a dance featuring the Village Band Four will be held at Convention Hall 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Snacks, ice, containers, plates, napkins and cups will be provided. In addition, there will be a wide variety of music for dancing and listening, line dancing and a costume contest whereby the winners
will receive dinners at local restaurants to be named later. TICKETS CAN be obtained by contacting the Department of Civic Affairs in Convention Hall 884-8411, ext. 20 or 27. Tables may be reserved by purchasing blocks of eight to 10 tickets. The 2nd Annual Halloween Parade and Party is scheduled for 3-5 p.njr Sunday, Oct. 28. It is anticipated that over 100 costumed youngsters will march from Lyle Lane and the Rotary Bandstand to the Emlen Physick Estate
on Washington Street beginning at 3 p.m. Once at the Physick Estate the parade entries will be judged in five age categories, with the top three in each receiving awards. Hie age categories are: 5 and under, 6-9, 10-12, 13-17 and 18 and over. Games and entertainment will also be provided at the estate following the parade. Applications can be picked up at Convention Hall, City Hall, the City Library or the Welcome Center. SJRT Sets Auditions SOMERS POINT - The South Jersey Regional Theatre will be holding open auditions for its December production of "A Funny Thing Happaned on the Way to the Forum" - Sunday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m. to 1 * p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. These auditions will be for non-Equity and Equity Membership Candidate roles: Casting will be for men between ages 18 and 60; and women between ages 18 and 30. Shriners To Hold ' Crusade ' The annual "paper crusade" of Crescent Temple on behalf of the 21 Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children in the country will be conducted in Cape May County Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13, according to Bill Dougherty, president of the county Shrine Club. On those dates, county Shriners will distribute a paper explaining the work done by the Shriners hospitals, and will collect contributions. All money will go to pay the expenses of helping needy children. THE SHRINERS hospitals, in their 61-year history, have helped more than »l,009 crippled or burned children, said Dougherty. The 1984 budget, he went on, is $162 million. Anyone who knows of a crippled or burned child who might be helped by 2 Shrine hospital, is asked to contact any Shriner or Mason , call 466-3864, or pass the Shrine newspaper on to the child's parents. Dougherty expressed appreciation to the Acme, ShopRite and Shop 'n Bag stores, the Lobster House and other merchants who have given permission to solicit at their places of business.
