Surplus Property Auction Set Oct. 17

ERMA — Cape May Gouhty is selling 20 used vehicles and buying.two The vehicles are part of a surplus personal propertysale set at the county airport starting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Oct. 17. The two cars for which the county is advertising to purchase are to be used for undercover work by the county prosecutor's office.

"None of the ones we 4 have for sale would suiS their needs." said William C. Deaver, purchasing agent. "They need a Twodoor so anyone arrested can't get out a back door. "They need wellmaintained. almost newcars," he added, "with low mileage." The 20 cars the county will peddle to the highest

bidders run the gamut from two 1969 Chevy buses to a l 9 7 8 Lincoln Continental. The Continental is a twodoor, but Deaver said it. plus a 1974 Volkswagen and a 1974 Ford Capri, have already been used by the prosecutor, the first two having been confiscated by the prosecutor in criminal cases.

Uther items up for action run the gamut from bed springs to TV stands, photo copiers to waste baskets. The auction will -be conducted by T. J. Sullens of the Newfield Auction Co. of Newfield. Last year the county made about $30,000 from a similar auction.

County department heads will have an opportunity Oct. 1 1 and 12 to get a preview of the items in case their departments can use any of the items. The public will be able to get an advance look from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Oct. 16, and starting at 8 a.m. the day of the sale.
