County to Comply On Handicapped

COURT HOUSE - Cape May County has taken steps to ensure it is complying with all federal requirements affecting the handicapped Included are physical access to facilities and accep- -- tance for treatment or employment in the county's programs. Harry Kehr. director of Facilities and Services, has been designated by the board of freeholders as the county contact person who . will coordinate efforts to comply with the federal regulations Kehr can be reached at the Facilities and Services Building. Crest Haven Road, or by telephone at 465-7911 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. IN ANNOUNCING the program. Freeholder Director, Anthony T. Catanoso said all county buildings are being surveyed to assure physical adherence to federal standards. Some structural and non-

structural changes are being planned. Work is to be completed by Oct. 17. 1986. to meet the federal guidelines Some of the work will be done by Facilities and Services personne! and some will be done by outside contractors where it is necessary, Catanoso said. In addition to the physical surveys and changes in structures, all programs and services ofv fered by the county are also being studied to assure that no services are being denied any handicapped persons The county must £omply with the requirements of Section 51.55 of the . Revenue Sharing Regula tions to make the county eligible to. receive Federal Revenue Sharing Funds. Catanoso said. To meet the requirements regarding notification, the Board of Freeholders has authorized a public information campaign to alert the public'ofthe compliance effort. '
