Lower road repairs next year. VoWNSHIP COUNCIL was scheduled to hear ^ charges last Wednesday against the owners of Parker Liquor Store, Bayshore Road at Delaware Parkway, Villas, but that hearing was postponed until later this month or early in November « The liquor store has been charged with delivering alcoholic beverages to a minor, according to Township Solicitor Bruce Gorman LOWER'S POLICE arrested 42 adults and 12 * juveniles last month, including three suspected drunk drivers, while investigating 399 criminal complaints and 41 collisions from the 1,697 calls received, Lt. Charles Thornton reported.
Twenty-one burglaries,34 larcenies and 32 vandalisms were recorded, in September, he said. Crimes of a more serious nature (assaults, etc.) were not among the criminal complaints, he said. In August, police arrested 50 adults and 11 juveniles, including six drunk driving suspects, while investigating 497 criminal complaints and 64 collisions. Among the August criminal complaints were 20 burglaries. 57 larcenies and 33 vandalisms. More than $31,470 in pro- ' y perty was stolen in August r and $7,980 recovered then. ' compared to $26,205 stolen ~ last month and a whopping a $83,356 recovered. Most of that, however, I was attributed to the discovery in Florida of a 1 $70,000 boat stolen from an Ocean Drive dock in Cold Spring four years ago, Thornton explained. Last month, the force logged! 42,574 miles on patrol, * issued 86 traffic tickets, and made 1,753 property checks while burning 1,024 gallons of gas. DEPUTY MAYOR \y Joseph Davis complained ' during township council's Oct. 1 work session that he found out during a bingo game that a $17,000 police ^ vehicle was wrecked last month. "All I know is, the guy wasn't supposed to be there," Davis said of the patrolman driving the fourwheel drive vehicle near the Coast Guard Electronics Station just south of ' Diamond Beach. The vehicle wound up in the drink, a " total loss, Davis added. .. _ "What was he doing . there?" Davis was asked. ' "That's what I'd like to I find out," he replied, noting that the patrolman was reprimanded. Lt. Thornton simply said , the officer drove into a "washout" while paTroling the beach in the "dark at " night." * • • FIRE CHIEF Ray Broun reports that Town Bank - volunteers answered four . September alarms, the same totals as in August and July. They fought a grass fire (Page 15 Please) V t ^
