Holy Spirit Wins In Stormy Surf «

OCEAN CITY - Ninety surfers from sixr high school and two college teams competed both with each other and the big surf of hurricane Josephine. In the hottly contested high school division Holy Spirit won the overall title without winning a single individual event, while the fantasUc performance of Mainland Regional's Dean Randzaao, who won two events single-handed, was not enough to overcome the Spartans' team depth. Inthe college division, Stocktons urfer Tom O'brian and Atlantic Community College's Bruce Beach fought it out throughout the whole event, as Stockton rolled to a 76-53 victory. CONDITIONS for the event were extreme at the least, with five-foot waves building during the day to

well over eight foot by the time of the final heats. . Giant waves and northeast winds were probably the reason why the surf team from Lower Cape MayRegional high school left without surfing in a single heat, discretion being the

c Belleplain Atop Flag Football AVALON - The second week of Avalon Flag Football League play produced the following: Ferguson Builder 9 - Recking Crew 6, with scores by Meridith, Haberle and Palmer; J&F Builders outscored Burdette Tomlin Hospital 21 to 7, with scores by Babore, Sickeroff and Morrisey; Belleplain Builders ran up 20 points to the Mud Hens' 7 - scorers were Champion, Adaranoto, Pettit, Galvin and Padamore. A squeaker was played by Champagne, 13, and Blue Knights. 12. Scoring in that game were Kloster man, Olsen and Williams. IN THE THIRD week of play J&F Builders kept up their winning ways by defeating the Mud Hens 10 to 7 with Sickeroff, Galvin and Padamore scoring. The Blue Knights and Recking Crew played to a 6 - 6 tie with scores by-Geary and Haberle. Champagne received a win on the forfeit by Berdette Tomlin Hospital and The Belleplain Bullies .tromped Ferguson Builder 33 to 7 with scores by Langley, Adaranoto, Palmer and Champion.
