SWAINTON - Resource recovery, the conversion of waste to energy, will receive accelerated attention under a new solid waste financing plan recently approved by the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority. Ted O'Neill, solid waste

manager, said the authority will spend an estimated $2 million of a $7.8 million borrowing to design and prepared - the necessary plans required to reach the construction phase for resource recovery facilities for Cape Mav County. ~ important part of the county's solid waste management plan," O'Neill stated. "We must plan to reduce our dependence on landfilling and to turn instead to disposing of our solid waste by incineration to produce energy." O'Neill said other components of the solid waste financing package include $2 million toward future additions to the county sanitary landfill. $560,000 to

construct a permanent recycling center if a majority of the county's municipalities request it or 1 if the state requires it to be 1 built. 1

The remainder of the funds will be used to complete the initial construction and to pay for equipment at both the landfill and the transfer station.

In the County of Cape May We are hurting thru and thru We have the M.U.A. ^ And we don't know what to do. ' They are going to give us trouble In every Municipality They are going to make our > taxes double With their stupid tipping fee. They are the worst in all the Natior They are going to break our hump Middle got the transfer station Woodbine got the dump. A few years ago • ; They pulled quite a caper O 7 hey spent 26 million H For a stack of paper. R Millions of dollars Have been spent |K No one knows K Where the mpney went. 1 Many people were indicted They are still out on bail F There have been no trials So no one went to jail.

Now the M.U.A. Is creating quite a fracas Under the direction Of Mr. Marinakis. I He is trying to break us But don't let him crack us We will get rid of him 1 If the people will back us. They know we have trash I That we must dispose an That gives them a way ^ j p For a tax to impose. I've studied the M.U.A. From fore and from aft And it appears to me It's a funnel for graft. I think incineration fl Is the very best way * F If we can keep it from the hands ft. Of the M.U.A. JL If there is a solution in sight Maybe we'll find a way IfAve all stand up and fight.
