Record 1,200 Hear Pops

WILWOOD — A record 1,200 persons attended the third annual Gala Champagne Concert of the New Jersey Pop6 Orchestra at Convention Hall Saturday night. - The Burdette-Tomlin Building Fund netted $5,000 from the event that night, with an additional amount possible after final auditing. The audience also consumed a record 600 bottles of champagne during the

two-hour program. Its theme was "Shade of Red White and Blue" and it ran the gamut from "Victory at Sea" to "Selections from •E.T.' " Highlight was a "Patriotic Sing-Along" led by co-chairman (with Charles E. Pessagno) Roman P. Osadchuk who did so well he was convinced to do a follow-up solo, "Return to Sorrento," that brought the audience to its feet.

The orchestra's musical director, Michael J. Buglio, announced that next year's concert will include a "featured performance" by a local solist, vocal or musical, who will be selected after an auditioning program. The musician will be aged 17 to 23 and reside in either Cape May, Atlantic or Cumberland county. The concert was sponsored by the Gala Coocert Committee and Midlantic National Bank/Union Trust.
