NAMED MANAGER — Linda J. Camp of Avalon was recently appointed manager of the Jersey Cape Raquet Club and Nautilus facility, Crest HaVen. She is a graduate of Eastern Baptist College, St. Davids, Pa. and has been a county resident for 12 years.

Cape Rovers Defeat Avengers In Soccer

^ DEL HAVEN - Defensive plays by Justin Vogel and Matt Ferry helped the Cape Express Soccer Club Rovers to a 2-1 victory- over the New Jersey Avengers. Kevin Jackson scored th Rovers' lone score on a penalty shot. In other games, the under-14 group battled to a 3-3 tie against the team from Vineland in a midnight special. Keith Kirsch scored a goal off Pat Nardizzi, then Mike Gentile put one over

an assist by Chris Corchiani. That brought the score to 3-2. WITH ONLY a minute to play, Mike Campbell scored the tying goal unassisted. While in Cohansey, the Express under-12 Silver Streak, behind Joey Higman's goal tending and the midfield play of Frank Vogel and Bobby Zimmerman, also played Cohansey to a 1-1 tie. Aimee Oprandy made the Streak's only score on an assist by David Nordone. The Cohansey under-10 team defeated the Express' Golden Flyer, 2-0, despite the efforts of Kenny Kirsch, Joey Mader and Sam Fazen. Next Sunday Cohansey meets the Midnight Special, while the Rovers, Silver Streak and Golden Flyer welcome their competition to the Del Haven fields. Games begin at 12:30 p.m.

Cape Insurance, Kona Win at Nets

COURT HOUSE -A new season of Town Tennis has begun at the Jersey Cape Racquet Club, with two new teams, Apex Realty and Kona Sports. The 1964 — 85 season opened Oct. 30 with some fierce competition. The first match of the evening was between Kona Sports and Apex Realty. The Kona Sports ladies doubles team of Joan Hughes and Judy Ferrante had an easy 8 — 2 victory over ' their opponents but Apex snapped right back with a close win in the men's doubles as Phil Kelly and Bob Hughes won 9 — 8 against Bob Ansell and'Tony Chrietzburg. KONA WAS undaunted as the father — daughter team of Bob and Sherri Sheppard won mixed doubles 8-5 over Jack Bowman and Kris Mazari. Kona continued its winning ways with Julie Chrietzburg steamrolling over her opponent 8-0 in ladies singles. Apex fought right back, however, with a win in Men's Singles as Lee Jones topped Scott Swain 8 -3. When all the scores were in, Kona finished ahead in the evening's first match. The second match was between Cape Insurance and Keen's Pharmacy and also was full of action. Cape Insurance got off to an early lead as the ladies doubles team of Sallie Williams and Carol Yarborough won 8-0. Cape's lead was extended by the men's, doubles team of Jake Williams and Joe Ma Iloy as they came out on top 8-1. Keen's Pharmacy fought back to win the next two events with the mixed doubles team of Pat Collier and George Cade finishing 8-4 ahead of Cape's Donna McConnell and Tony Fittipaldi and Keen Phar-

macy's Cathie Smith topping Tracy Karborough 8-6. THE FINAL event of the evening was a hard fought battle against Ernie Yarborough and Roy Smith in men's singles which went right down to the wire. Cape Insurance's Yarbourgh emerged on top with a 9-8 victory which also gives the Cape Insurance team a win in the first night of league action. EMD Hears Institute Delegate WILDWOOD-The Civic Club Evening Membership Department held its first meeting of the 1984-85 year recently, with Mrs. Kenneth Calloway, chairman, presiding. The program, presented by Mrs. William Schaule, youth chairman, was given by Miss Bridgette Lambert, daughter of Mrs. Judith Lambert. Bridgette is a senior at Wildwood Catholic High School. As Wildwood EMD's delegate to Girl's Citizenship Institute, Miss Lambert gave an account of her experiences at Douglass College during the June 18-22 session of the Institute. Miss Lambert is a member of the National Honor Society, and has participated in Science Fairs at Wildwood Catholic, Stockton State, and I Delaware Valley in the I field of physics She -is a Track and Field Manager, is on the newspaper staff and is active in forensics and the choir at Wildwood Catholic High
