Nurse Aide Training On Job COURT HOUSE - Students in the day Nurse Aide program at the Vocational Career Center will soon start an important part of their studies. In November, they will put into practice techniques that they have been taught in the classroom setting during a phase of the program known as "clinical affiliation". Clinical affiliation is part of every health careers program at the vocational schools. It refers to training that occurs at the type of job site where the student will eventually work. THE NURSE AIDE students will affiliate in two clinical settings: Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital and Crest Haven Nursing Home. Each site provides a different type of on-the-job experience. The hospital treats patients for a short period of time, \ while the nursing home is considered a long-term care facility. While on affiliation, students work along with staff members and under the supervision of their instructor, Carol Ryan. The tasks they perform include bedmaking, bed baths, and feeding patients. MRS. RYAN who holds a B.A. from Glass boro State College and a R.N. from Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, believes that affiliations is one of the most important phases of nurse aide training. "To be a successful nurse aide," she said, "the student must be able to put theory into practice. All levels of medical training have clinical components." The nurse aide clinical affiliation occurs once per week and will continue until May. Grievance AVALON - The borough board of education will hold a special closed session at 7 tonight in the Board Trailer Room. The purpose is to discuss a written grievance received from David Jones.
